  • The museum is a grand home built in 1900 which is actively maintained by a small group of dedicated volunteers. 
  • The home consists of six rooms on the main floor and an additional five bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. Each room has a fireplace. There are main steps in the front and then few steps in back. There are also a basement and an attic. The whole place is set up as a functioning house.
  • The museum is open on Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
  • Museum is open on other days for school and private tours.
  • Admission is by donation.

 

 

Features

​
Features of this gracious house include a reception hall of oak paneling, a built-in bookcase with curved glass doors, a courting corner, stained glass fretwork, and intricate wood carving above each door and window on the first floor. The most unique feature of the home is the intricate parquet floors on the first floor. Two rooms are of oak and walnut while the other two rooms are of oak and mahogany. Each room has a different border and center pattern than the others.


There are total four floors in museum:



1st Floor       -     Gracious family living area
2nd Floor     -     Five bedrooms, some used for special displays.
Attic             -     Clothing and photographs of Wayne County
Basement   -     Farm related items and primitives.
